Jamie McGarvey

Jamie McGarvey was a Municipal Councillor for 29 years before being elected as Mayor of the Town of Parry Sound in 2010, a position he has held since then. 
Jamie has been a Customer Service Advisor with Parry Sound Home Hardware for almost 45 years. 

Jamie has an extensive lifetime of experience in Parry Sound; he has served on many local, area and district committees over the last 40 years and has had many dealings with all levels of government:

•    Mayor - Town of Parry Sound 2010 to Present
•    President - Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) 2018 to 2020 and November 2021 to August 2022; Past-President 2020 to 2021, and 2022 to 2024; Director on Board of Directors 2011 to 2018, and 2020 to present; Chair of AMO Housing Task Force, Committee Member of AMO Indigenous Task Force

Over the years Jamie has worked with Federal and Provincial politicians and staff to help create opportunity for the Parry Sound Area. His work to get natural gas to the Parry Sound Area and to get a Community Futures Committee, which was able to get a Community Business Development Corporation here, has definitely helped the Parry Sound Area.
